Gracious Lord and
Loving Shepherd

He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young. Isaiah 40:11

Gracious Lord and Loving Shepherd
We entrust our child to Thee.
Bless our little lamb and keep him
In your care eternally.

You who blessed the little children
Gathered wee lambs in your arms,
By your pow'r you hold and keep him
Far away from Satan's harm.

He no longer knows life's sorrows
Having left this world of sin,
For his loving Shepherd sought him
And has safely brought him in.

Lips of infants praise and bless Thee;
In your Kingdom they now sing.
For to such as these is given
Life eternal in their King.

Thou has given and hast taken.
Help us bow before Thy will.
Fix our hopes on things eternal
That our hearts may bless Thee still.

Weep not, for the child is sleeping
In his shepherd's fold secure.
One day he'll be rais'd in glory.
In Christ, death's pow'r reigns no more!
