Sarah's Rose O Crucified and Risen Lord
Sarah's Rose 2

For Christ hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit. --1 Peter 3:18

Hymn tune by John Ambrose Lloyd, 1815-1874

O crucified and risen Lord,
What agonies you have endured
To set your guilty people free
From sin and death and misery.

O spotless Lamb, holy and true,
There is no darkness found in you.
You came to break the pow'r of sin.
By your shed blood we are cleansed within.

While cursed and nailed upon the tree,
You suffered sin's full penalty.
The price is paid, atonement won
For those who trust in Christ, the Son.

Raised on the third day from the dead,
The Lord has bruised the serpent's head.
Exalted now to God's right hand,
He rules all things by His command.

O broken sinner, mourn and grieve.
Come unto Christ, repent, believe.
With all your heart cry out to Him,
And He will save you from your sin.

Send forth thy Word in pow'r and might;
Bring hopeless sinners to the light.
Unblind their eyes to seek thy face.
In Christ there is abundant grace.
Amen.
